Event Description
This session of our “World of Wine Grapes” cours (see HERE for more details) takes a look at an unsung grape alongside another that is mostly responsible for Spain’s most famous wine.
Ah, Chenin Blanc… You can turn your hand to still wine, fizzy wine, dry wine and sweet wine, and still you’re not as well-known as other grapes. Let’s see if we can change that, as we try two French wines alongside another from South Africa, where’s it’s the most-widely planted grape. Why? You’ll discover in this session…
Tempranillo is more famous, largely thanks to its performance in Rioja. But it’s not the only part of Spain where it grows, and indeed you’ll increasingly find it elsewhere in Europe and further afield. As (again) we’ll discover in this session…
The tasting will include some cheese and crackers to compliment the wines and will include three examples each of a white grape and a red one, with the aim of demonstrating how the same basic raw material can be moulded in different ways, according to the place where the grapes grow and the desires of the winemakers.
