Event Description
Whenever we’ve asked attendees at our Masterclasses what place we should focus on for forthcoming events, Italy almost always crops up in the answers. So we’re thrilled to be able to put on an event in which we’ll be pitting the country’s two most famous wine regions against each other.
From Tuscany, we’ll sample Sangiovese at its finest from Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico, along with a wine from Carmignano, where – according to some sources – they’ve been blending Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon since the 19th century. We’ll also try a white based on the Vermentino grape.
And from Piedmont, where Nebbiolo is king, we’ll taste examples from Barolo and Barbaresco, a Barbera from a producer who also excels at Nebbiolo, and a white that we’ve still to settle on – will it be the critically acclaimed Timorasso, the more famous Gavi, or the almost unheard-of Nascetta…?
Whatever we settle on, be assured that any element of inter-regional competition suppressed by the quality of the eight wines (average price £25+), and by the cheese and ham, sorry, salumi that there’ll be to nibble on in between. Do join us for what should be una bella occasione!
