Event Description
Join us for a day of tasting (11am to 4pm) with a delicious three-course lunch at a 3 AA rosette restaurant in St Albans.
Old World wines have historically had the reputation of higher quality to that of the New World and many people have preconceived views about this. However, many New World regions produce wines of outstanding quality!
Are you Team Old World or Team New World?
We'll start the day with a sparkling wine reception, followed by a fun blind tasting of 10 fantastic wines. We'll taste the wines 'blind', in pairs - in each case, both wines will be made from the same grape variety, but one will be from the Old World and one will be from the New World. Can you tell the difference? Which do you prefer?
As well as learning to taste like a pro we'll cover the following...
- How wine is made
- An introduction to the major wine making regions of the Americas
- An introduction to the major red and white grape varieties
- The effect of climate on how a wine tastes
- Understanding wine labels
- Food and wine matching tips
Halfway through the day we'll take a break to enjoy a delicious three-course lunch.
