Event Description
At the helm of each of the cellars presented is a wine genius or a respected oenologist or a passionate winemaker or generations upon generations of grapegrowers from the very, very, very Old World-Producing countries, such as Greece, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia, Moldovia, Israel, etc.
They use local varieties, deeply rooted in Germanic, Greek, Slavic and Roman cultural influences, for creating wines in a modern, fresh styles thrughout.
Some of the wines we shall taste on the night:
- Bull's Blood is one of Hungary's most famous wines and according to legend, dates back to 1552!
- A fresh, zesty, floral white made from one of Greece’s finest indigenous grapes: Savatiano (old vines at that!).
- A quintessential Malvasia Istriana from Croatia. Could be one of the best to date.
- A soft and fruity white Malvasia from Slovenia, perfect matched with seafood.
- Smederevka has been grown in Macedonia for centuries. A crisp, intense and balanced wine - a lovely aperitif.
- A wine fermented and aged in clay amphoras, orange wine is THE wine par excellence of Georgia - a treat not to be missed from what is believed to be the very first wine-producing country in the world!
