South Africa and The USA have one thing in common. A very chequered history in the wine industry. Both have very different wine styles and philosophies, but one thing is for certain, both are producing some remarkable wines.
Taste and discover wines from all over the Western Cape. As well as tasting fantastic wines, we will be taking a look at the tumultuous history of winemaking in South Africa and roving the coastal and mountainous landscapes.
With the end ofApartheid, the new found freedom has allowed young winemakers desperate to prove their worth to set off to foreign shores to learn the winemaking skills from the greatest wine regions of the world and bring these back to South Africa to create a new diversity of wines and styles.
When we think of the USA, we think of California, Oregon and Washington. Zinfandel and Chardonnay. All produce some wonderful wines, but there is so much more coming out of this wine giant. The 4th largest producer in the world USA can boast that they produce wine in all 50 States are really coming to the party with their new wave winemakers producing some stunning Syrah, Riesling and Tempranillo to add to their world renowned Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Bordeaux type Blends.
On this evening a minimum of 6 wines will be tasted.
