Wines of Northern Spain - Southend

Spanish wines range from great values to wines to lay down and from delicate whites to fabulous reds, most of which come from Northern Spain

In Northern Spain there are four main wine producing areas: Rioja, Galicia, Catalonia and Ribera del Duera in Castilla y Leon. Each is unique and produces fine wines with their own special "Denomination of Origen" guarantee. 

Galicia feels very unlike the rest of Spain. The vineyards of Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Bierzo, Txakolina produce minerally, citrusy white wines along with a few elegant and aromatic red wines

The Ebro and Duero River Valleys produce some of Spain’s most noteworthy Tempranillo wines from regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rueda, Cariñena. In Rueda, there grows an exceptional, minerally Spanish white wine grape called Verdejo.

Catalunya has the perfect Mediterranean climate and is home to Cava, Priorat and Montsant. The powerhouse red wine area is definitely Priorat. Once forgotten, it was almost destroyed by Phylloxera, Priorat went on to become a red wine region revered by critics. Old vine Carignan and Garnacha hold the key to their amazing reds.

All tastings include: minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes and use of professional tastings glasses.
