Event Description
We will taste some of the indigenous grapes that make the Classic Italian wine so different and intriguing.
We’ll talk about the grape name and the wine region name, it can be confusing – Chianti/Sangiovese – which is which?
We will taste at least 6 different wines on this tasting starting in the cooler North, heading to the warmer balmy shores and Islands in the South.
Here are just some of the wines you might expect to taste:
• Pignoletto or Franciacorta…. move over Prosecco (sparkling wines)
• Pinot Grigio (there are some great ones if you know where to look)
• Fiano (top quality potential, one of our favourites – a must try)
• Barolo (fine wine territory)
• Pecorino (a wine and a cheese not related but both delicious)
• Chianti (bright fruity reds)
• Nero D’Avola – (the trendy one, often found on volcanic soils)
• Primitivo (rich and juicy, a Southern Italian Classics)
• Moscato (usually fizzy and sweet, best way to end a meal or start a celebration)
