Event Description
We will be sampling wines from the classic French regions. Our evening will start with classic white varieties from the crisp, fresh wines of the Loire Valley, the Chardonnay masters from Burgundy through to unique Alsace.
We then move on to red wines from famous Bordeaux blends, classic Burgundy Pinot Noir through to rich, spicy reds from the Rhone Valley.
We will explore the key grape varieties and styles from each region and what makes these French classics so special. We will explore the characteristics of each region and discover the influence of wine making and aging.
As ever, the focus will be on enjoyment, conversation and taking the opportunity to drink some great wines with a fantastic group of people.
There will be a 'cheese pairing' element with at least one of our wines and nibbles available. We will discuss why so many people reach for a French wine to pair with their food and how to navigate the label of a bottle of French Wine!
As always, we will taste a minimum of six hand selected bottles of quality wine. A majority of wine is sourced from local retailers to enable you to go and find the wines for yourselves. What makes Local Wine Schools unique is that we are not trying to sell the wine at the end of the evening, meaning that you can relax and enjoy the experience without a wine sales element.
