Event Description

Chile is known for its fresh and fruity wines and very tempting prices while Argentina has been making intense and increasingly complex wines. Both countries have their unique surprises - come and discover more.

It seems Chile can do it all from making fresh and vibrant Sauvignon Blancs to silky and smooth Cabernet Sauvignons. And Chileans are quick to trumpet their cooler sub-regions such as Casablanca and the Bio Bio valley where aromatic varieties such as Riesling and Gewurztraminer thrive.

Argentina, on the other side of the Andes, has an entirely different climate which is much hotter and arid. It also has its own expression of Malbec and a unique and wonderfully aromatic grape variety called Torrontes. All are great value for money, but we will also discover what happens when you spend more money on these wines.

During the evening we will cover:

  • the grape varieties used in Chile and Argentina
  • the influence of local geography on the vineyards
  • Carménère and Torrontes - distinct and unusual grapes
  • how to assess wine quality at higher prices

Our tastings include a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and a focus on food pairing.

All our courses can be purchased as a Gift either as a dated or undated voucher.
