What is great about the vast range of sparkling wines now available is that they do not all have to be those expensive wines for special occasions.
Prosecco, Cava and the French Crémants lead the way on this – they don’t cost a fortune but are are just right to open at the end of a long summer’s day in the garden, at work or on the beach, with the promise of good food.
The good news is that many of the sparkling wines to come out of the New World are no longer Champagne pretenders but have a pedigree and style of their own; it's no surprise that many of the best come from cooler growing regions, such as Tasmania, New Zealand and the Limarí Valley in Chile.
